My name is Mary Nariama Daniel. I am an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman.
I was raised in Queensland, but have lived and raised my family here in Sydney for the past 15 yrs.
I am currently studying the Certificate III in Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts at Eora College, Chippendale.
My father Norman Daniel is an Iama/Tudulaig man from Central Torres strait and his biological father is of Rotuman descent.
My mother Nadie was raised at Erub Eastern Torres Strait and is a descendant of the Guddi Guddi and Butjula people of Maryborough, Harvey Bay and Frazar Island , Erub(Darnley Island, Mer (Murry Island) , Lifou (new Caledonian) and Rotuman (Fiji).
My Artworks are an expression of my Identity, beliefs and dreamings. My life experiences inspire me to create different forms of artwork. I have been involved in cultural and ceremonial art since I was a child. All forms of cultural arts play a big role in my life.
